RESIDENTIAL PROXY COMPARISON

STAY IF

Keep the current route

Keep Webshare for a low-risk connection check

Stay when 10 free shared datacenter proxies and a downloadable or API-managed list answer the immediate connectivity or development question. Treat the 1 GB/month cap and shared-IP blocking risk as part of that scope.

Keep IPRoyal for residential TTL

Stay when a configurable Sticky IP TTL, pay-as-you-go purchase or subscription plan matches a real residential browser workload and its peer-recovery behavior is acceptable.

SWITCH IF

Change the route

The free tier is the wrong network

Test ProxyLane when the task needs residential targeting and the Webshare free datacenter route cannot represent the target behavior you must validate.

You need traffic between jobs

Compare ProxyLane's non-expiring traffic with monthly residential allowances when your workload is irregular and the balance must remain available for the next run.

WORKLOAD DETAILS

Check the details that matter

Use Webshare free for the narrow question

Webshare's free-proxy help page says its 10 shared datacenter proxies never expire, with a 1 GB/month cap. Some sites may block those shared IPs. Use them to check client configuration, then evaluate paid residential traffic for the actual target.

Webshare's API documentation supports a downloadable list with country codes, username or source-IP authentication and a residential backbone mode. Its official CLI can compose a rotating backbone URL. Compare that list-driven workflow with IPRoyal credentials or ProxyLane's route only after holding the client, target and valid response definition constant.

Compare the paid product and the active month

The current Webshare pricing table shows 1 GB rotating residential at $3.50/GB billed monthly under a displayed discount, alongside a $7 list rate. IPRoyal lists 1 GB pay as you go at $7.35/GB and offers subscription or bulk choices. A monthly allowance and a pay-as-you-go balance behave differently when the job runs once and then sits idle, so model both months and include page assets and retries.

IPRoyal's cancellation FAQ says residential pay-as-you-go traffic does not expire under standard conditions, but account-specific activity requirements can apply. Check your dashboard before parking a balance. Its seven-day sticky TTL still depends on the residential peer staying online. Webshare's bandwidth help states that paid monthly allowances reset each billing cycle without rollover. Proxies stop when the allowance is exhausted or the subscription period ends; a non-expiring free proxy does not make paid residential GB non-expiring.

Use ProxyLane for a residential route you own

ProxyLane's current offer provides non-expiring residential traffic, country, region, city, ZIP, ISP and ASN targeting, HTTP and SOCKS5, and rotating or sticky sessions. Residential traffic starts from $2/GB. See the pricing page for package details. Account creation is free, and MCP terms are separate. This gives a clear third route to test when your own client already handles requests and parsing.

MIGRATION CHECKLIST

Move one useful job first

Use a reversible sample and preserve the acceptance rule that made the current route useful.

  1. 01

    Choose your first pilot budget

Select a small permitted URL set or one browser sequence based on your own budget. Set maximum pages, concurrency, spend and bytes before running; these are your pilot caps, not vendor limits. Include retries and assets.

  2. 02

    Validate list authentication

Export Webshare residential entries in backbone mode. Choose username/password or authorize the production runner's source IP; keep the download token private. Test the selected protocol, authentication and HTTPS request in the real client before changing the scheduled job.

  3. 03

Keep the parser acceptance rule fixed

Run the unchanged parser and cookie policy. Require the expected record ID, currency, price and capture time for a price-monitoring job; reject challenges, wrong locales and missing fields. Record accepted records, retries and billed traffic; set your maximum cost per accepted record before testing.

  4. 04

Cut over only the bounded job

Stop on a pilot cap, authentication failure, field mismatch or unexpected identity change. Restore the saved incumbent configuration and restart from the last accepted checkpoint. Expand only when the pilot meets your valid-record and cost thresholds; keep managed-product meters separate.

QUESTIONS TO SETTLE

Before you change providers

Are Webshare's free proxies residential?

No. Webshare describes the free tier as 10 shared datacenter proxies with up to 1 GB/month. Paid residential traffic is a separate test and billing path.

Is Webshare's $3.50/GB rate permanent?

The current pricing table displays $3.50/GB for a 1 GB rotating residential monthly plan alongside a $7 list rate and discount. Verify the checkout before budgeting.

Can IPRoyal's sticky session last seven days?

You can set the TTL up to 7 days, but IPRoyal says the residential peer may leave earlier. The client needs a recovery path.

When is ProxyLane the better third option?

Test it when the job needs a raw residential route with country, region, city, ZIP, ISP or ASN targeting, HTTP or SOCKS5, rotating or sticky sessions and traffic with no expiry.

STILL DECIDING?

Test ProxyLane for $1.95
before you choose

Run the targets you would send to IPRoyal or Webshare. Get 350 MB of residential traffic with sticky sessions up to 72 hours. Keep any unused traffic for later.
