STAY IF

Keep the current route

You need NetNut's managed Unblocker contract

The Unblocker page describes a URL-in, rendered-HTML-out service with JavaScript rendering, automatic retries and success-basis billing. Keep it when that response removes work your team does not want to own.

The quoted gateway matches your exact location and session

NetNut documents country, region, state and city targeting plus rotating or sticky sessions. A current quote and matched target test can justify staying when those controls fit.

A named procurement path matters to the team

NetNut's pricing page asks for products, volume and targets. Keep it when a scoped commercial conversation, account support or a dedicated pool is part of buying.

SWITCH IF

Change the route

The team cannot price the first meaningful test

NetNut's current pricing page does not show a numeric entry tier. Compare its written quote with Oxylabs' 5GB $30 Starter and ProxyLane's 1 GB $6.50 package, keeping volume and managed features separate.

The job is a simple client-owned fetch

If your application handles HTTP requests, retries, rendering and parsing, test ProxyLane's residential route as a direct network alternative. Do not price NetNut's Unblocker as raw proxy traffic.

The current quote does not match the target

Ask for country, city, session duration, protocol and traffic volume. If the quote cannot satisfy the workload, run the same acceptance test through a package whose controls fit.

WORKLOAD DETAILS

Check the details that matter

Match the product before comparing vendors

NetNut has two materially different routes in the current official material. Its residential gateway gives an HTTP client or browser a network exit with geo and session controls. Its Unblocker accepts a URL and returns rendered HTML after managed rendering, identity selection and retries. Oxylabs likewise separates raw residential, Web Unblocker and Web Scraper API. Keep the route and output contract identical in the test.

ProxyLane fits the raw-client branch. Its current page lists residential traffic with country, region, city, ZIP, ISP and ASN targeting, HTTP and SOCKS5, and rotating or sticky sessions. That makes it a concrete third option for a team that owns fetching and parsing. It does not establish managed rendering or an equivalent Unblocker contract.

Make the first commitment visible

NetNut's pricing page scopes plans to products, volume and targets, with no rigid tiers, but discloses no numeric minimum or traffic expiry/rollover policy. Request minimum, expiry, rollover, renewal, overage, billing unit, session duration and target coverage in writing. For Unblocker, also obtain the billable-success definition and test it against your output requirements.

Oxylabs currently lists Residential Starter at 5GB for $30 billed monthly, or $6/GB, with VAT potentially applying. ProxyLane lists residential proxies from $2/GB, and says traffic never expires. Calculate cash outlay, traffic and client work for the smallest evaluable workload.

Let the fetcher and the result decide

Use one permitted URL set with the same response-size limit, concurrency, retry policy, parser and fields. For raw routes, configure all three in the same client and log exit location, continuity, bytes and accepted records. Compare managed routes only when output and billing unit match.

Oxylabs documents an official hosted MCP at https://mcp.oxylabs.io/mcp, with Web Scraper API and AI Studio credentials exposing different tool groups. NetNut documents gateways and managed APIs, while ProxyLane is a client-operated residential route. Agent connectivity alone does not prove useful data or lower cost.

MIGRATION CHECKLIST

Move one useful job first

Use a reversible sample and preserve the acceptance rule that made the current route useful.

  1. 01

    Write the output contract

Define raw HTML, rendered HTML, structured fields or an interactive browser result. Record sites, locations, session duration, protocol, response size and request volume.

  2. 02

    Request like-for-like terms

Ask NetNut for product, target, volume, minimum, traffic expiry/rollover, renewal, overage, billing unit and session duration. For Unblocker, add the billable-success definition. Record Oxylabs' plan and ProxyLane's matching package without mixing meters.

  3. 03

    Run a controlled sample

Use identical URLs, client code, timeouts, retries and output validation. Capture usable records, transferred bytes, missing fields, session breaks and the work left for the team after each response.

  4. 04

    Scale only after acceptance

Choose the route whose written terms and completed output meet the workload. Recalculate at the expected monthly volume, include rendering and parser maintenance, and confirm the selected geography before purchase.

QUESTIONS TO SETTLE

Before you change providers

Does NetNut publish a minimum or unused-traffic policy?

The current cited pricing material shows neither a numeric minimum nor traffic expiry or rollover terms. Request them in the quote alongside renewal, overage, billing unit, session duration and target coverage. ProxyLane's non-expiring traffic is relevant when idle balances matter and your team can operate the raw fetcher.

Is Oxylabs' $30 plan the same as NetNut Unblocker?

No. Oxylabs' current $30 figure is its 5GB Residential Starter plan. NetNut Unblocker is a separate URL-to-rendered-HTML service with its own managed billing. Compare raw gateways with raw gateways and managed outputs with managed outputs.

What does ProxyLane add for a small fetcher team?

The current page lists a visible residential package ladder, from 1 GB for $6.50 to 1 TB for $2,500, with traffic that never expires, country, region, city, ZIP, ISP and ASN targeting, HTTP or SOCKS5, and rotating or sticky sessions.

Can Oxylabs MCP use the residential package directly?

The official Oxylabs MCP repository says the hosted server uses Web Scraper API credentials for scraper tools and AI Studio credentials for additional tools. Treat those credentials and meters as separate from raw residential traffic until the account confirms otherwise.
