STAY IF

Keep the current route

Keep Decodo for product choice

Stay when the dashboard's residential, ISP, mobile and datacenter options or Site Unblocker reduce a real maintenance burden. Its hosted and local MCP routes are useful when the agent needs the Web Scraping API tool surface.

Keep Oxylabs for managed output

Stay when Web Unblocker rendering or Oxylabs result-oriented products matches the artifact your pipeline needs. Its hosted MCP also separates Web Scraper API tools from AI Studio tools.

SWITCH IF

Change the route

Your parser is already working

Test ProxyLane when the job needs a reusable residential connection and your application already handles requests, retries, rendering and extraction.

Your volume has idle months

Compare ProxyLane's non-expiring traffic with a measured schedule when recurring allowances or managed credits do not match when your team actually runs the job.

WORKLOAD DETAILS

Check the details that matter

Separate gateways from unblockers

Decodo Custom Sticky Sessions documents a 10-minute default and sessionduration values of 1–1,440 minutes. A residential device going offline can rotate the IP early. Keep the same client, cookie state, geography and page sequence across the residential tests. Oxylabs Session Control documents a 10-minute default that ends after 60 seconds idle, whichever comes first. Its sesstime parameter allows up to 1,440 minutes, but peers can leave sooner and requests can outlast the session.

Decodo's current Site Unblocker guide documents Pay per GB and Pay per Request plans at unblock.decodo.com:60000. Oxylabs describes Web Unblocker with provider-side JavaScript rendering and raw HTML output. Neither product should be treated as an ordinary residential GB balance. Compare them only when the buyer wants managed handling and can define the same accepted output.

Read the prices with their units

Decodo's pricing page currently shows residential pay as you go at $4/GB with a $4 total before VAT. Oxylabs lists a 5 GB Starter plan at $30 billed monthly, or $6/GB, and notes that VAT may apply. Decodo also shows monthly tiers, so a recurring workload should be modeled against the selected term rather than the smallest pay-as-you-go card.

Decodo's PAYG guide requires Wallet funds and automatically buys another 1 GB at 90% usage while funded. After disabling PAYG, remaining traffic lasts 12 months or until a regular residential subscription is purchased. PAYG cannot coexist with an active monthly subscription; unused monthly traffic is lost when that plan expires. Oxylabs Starter is billed monthly; cancel through Manage subscription to stop the next period. Billing & Subscriptions says access continues until the current period ends. The reviewed billing page does not establish unused-GB rollover, so obtain that term before valuing an idle balance.

Use ProxyLane for the raw residential case

ProxyLane's current offer is a residential connection for an existing HTTP client or browser. It includes country, region, city, ZIP, ISP and ASN targeting, HTTP and SOCKS5, rotating and sticky sessions, and traffic with no expiry. Residential traffic starts from $2/GB. See the pricing page for package details. Account creation is free, and MCP terms are separate.

MIGRATION CHECKLIST

Move one useful job first

Use a reversible sample and preserve the acceptance rule that made the current route useful.

  1. 01

    Choose your first pilot budget

Select a small permitted URL set or one browser sequence based on your own budget. Set maximum pages, concurrency, spend and bytes before running; these are your pilot caps, not vendor limits. Include retries and assets.

  2. 02

Check credentials in the actual client

Save the incumbent host, port, protocol, username/session parameters and secret reference as a rollback configuration. Install candidate credentials in the same client; verify its chosen HTTP or SOCKS5 authentication, HTTPS request and expected exit geography without logging passwords.

  3. 03

Keep the parser acceptance rule fixed

Run the unchanged parser and cookie policy. Require the expected record ID, currency, price and capture time for a price-monitoring job; reject challenges, wrong locales and missing fields. Record accepted records, retries and billed traffic; set your maximum cost per accepted record before testing.

  4. 04

Cut over only the bounded job

Stop on a pilot cap, authentication failure, field mismatch or unexpected identity change. Restore the saved incumbent configuration and restart from the last accepted checkpoint. Expand only when the pilot meets your valid-record and cost thresholds; keep managed-product meters separate.

QUESTIONS TO SETTLE

Before you change providers

Is Decodo Site Unblocker the same as residential proxy traffic?

No. The official guide gives Site Unblocker its own endpoint and Pay per GB or Pay per Request plans. Compare its managed output and meter separately from residential GB.

What does Oxylabs Starter cost right now?

The current residential pricing page lists Starter at 5 GB, $6/GB and $30 billed monthly, with VAT potentially applying. Check the plan before purchase.

Can ProxyLane be used with an existing browser?

Yes, the offer covers HTTP and SOCKS5 plus rotating or sticky residential sessions. Choose the location and session policy, then validate the browser workflow on permitted pages.

How should I compare the two MCP options?

Compare the tool surface, credential type, returned artifact and separate usage meter for the exact agent task. Decodo uses its Web Scraping API token; Oxylabs exposes Web Scraper API and AI Studio paths.

STILL DECIDING?

Test ProxyLane for $1.95
before you choose

Run the targets you would send to Decodo or Oxylabs. Get 350 MB of residential traffic with sticky sessions up to 72 hours. Keep any unused traffic for later.
