STAY IF

Keep the current route

The Decodo setup already fits

Stay with Decodo if its dashboard generated endpoint, ready code examples, country and session controls, and existing parser integration make the job easy to operate. Its current residential pay as you go route is $4/GB, which is a real reason to keep it when the product terms suit your schedule.

You need a managed branch

Keep Decodo when Site Unblocker or a Web Scraping API handles a difficult request more directly than a raw gateway. Those paths have different meters and output contracts, so their convenience can be worth preserving even when you are also comparing residential traffic.

SWITCH IF

Change the route

Smartproxy search needs one answer

Use this page for both brand queries: Decodo is the current name and Smartproxy is the former name. Keep the existing parser and compare a raw residential endpoint before considering a different API product.

The balance must survive gaps

Test ProxyLane when your residential jobs are irregular and traffic that does not expire matters more than the lowest displayed per-GB rate. Measure a full visit, including assets and retries, before assigning value to stored traffic.

You want a distinct third route

ProxyLane's 1 GB package is $6.50, so it does not beat Decodo's current $4/GB pay as you go on entry price. Its case must come from the complete terms, target fit, and the output your existing client produces.

WORKLOAD DETAILS

Check the details that matter

Smartproxy is now Decodo

Decodo's rebrand page states that Smartproxy is now Decodo. The decision starts with your endpoint and billing model. Its pricing FAQ lists $4/GB through Wallet without a monthly subscription; pay as you go and a monthly subscription cannot run simultaneously. The eligible-new-user trial includes 100 MB for 3 days, then automatically activates the selected plan unless cancelled beforehand. Using the trial excludes the 14-day money-back option.

Decodo also sells Site Unblocker and Web Scraping API products. Those can suit hard targets, but they are separate purchases from a residential gateway. Keep the raw proxy test visible to your existing parser.

Compare IPRoyal and ProxyLane on ownership

IPRoyal is a useful raw residential peer. Its pages show $7.35/GB pay as you go, non-expiring traffic, and a sticky setting up to seven days. A peer can still leave, so TTL is a request, not an identity guarantee. ISP and mobile products need separate tests.

ProxyLane offers residential proxies from $2/GB, traffic that does not expire, country/city/ISP targeting, HTTP/SOCKS5, and rotating or sticky sessions. Your team supplies the client, browser, cookies, parser, and retries. ISP targeting is not a dedicated ISP SKU.

Keep the parser in the experiment

Pick permitted URLs and the fields that make a record usable. Keep parser, browser steps, cookies, headers, concurrency, retries, country, and session duration fixed. Replace only the endpoint across Decodo, IPRoyal, and ProxyLane raw routes. Log bytes, errors, session changes, retries, and records.

For a managed branch, record the API's own unit. Treat trials, $4/GB Wallet traffic, non-expiring balances, and free registration as terms to verify. Keep the route that passes the job at acceptable cost and effort.

MIGRATION CHECKLIST

Move one useful job first

Use a reversible sample and preserve the acceptance rule that made the current route useful.

  1. 01

    Resolve the brand

Update the comparison note to Decodo (Smartproxy), then record the current endpoint, parser, target sample, required fields, and chosen proxy product

  2. 02

    Hold the workload constant

Keep cookies, session duration, location, headers, concurrency, retries, browser actions, and parser version the same across the raw proxy routes

  3. 03

    Run the smallest useful test

Use the same permitted URLs and log bytes, proxy errors, session changes, retries, returned fields, completed records, and the actual billed unit

  4. 04

    Choose the product

Keep Decodo, IPRoyal, or move to ProxyLane only when the selected route meets the output rule and its current terms fit the workload

QUESTIONS TO SETTLE

Before you change providers

Is Smartproxy still a separate provider?

Decodo's official rebrand page says Smartproxy is now Decodo. Use both names when searching, then compare the current Decodo endpoint and terms.

Is ProxyLane cheaper than Decodo?

The current entry prices do not support that claim: Decodo shows $4/GB pay as you go, while ProxyLane's smallest package is 1 GB for $6.50. Compare the full workload, expiry, targeting, and service terms.

Does ProxyLane provide Site Unblocker?

ProxyLane's offer here is residential traffic for your own client or browser. Decodo Site Unblocker is a separate managed product, so test it against the output your workflow needs.

Can I keep the same parser during a proxy test?

Yes. Keep the parser and browser workflow unchanged, replace the endpoint, and compare completed fields, retries, session behavior, and traffic on the same permitted URLs.

READY TO CHECK THE FIT?

Start with your actual workload

Tell ProxyLane which targets, geography, session behavior and traffic volume your workflow needs.
